Rangat is a middle point. The distance between Diglipur to Port Blair is 325 Kilometers. It is about 170 km from Port Blair. Our tonight's reservation
We told the conductor about our upcoming plan that while returning we have to go Havelock by catching Jetty from Rangat, then he told us that Rangat Bus Stand is just a short distance from Rangat Jetty office and when we told about our hotel, he said that this hotel is about 15 kilometers from Rangat.
Just here we made a mistake. The bus stopped at the Rangat bus stand; we got down here and after some time, when the bus left for further, then we also stayed inside it. It was almost four o'clock when we reached the Rangat bus stand. We caught the bus at Two Fifteen. We were at the ferry at Two Thirty. Today was Saturday and tomorrow the Jetty office would be closed. This meant that we will not get tickets tomorrow and tomorrow we will not stay in Rangat but reach Diglipur, then we will have to collect tickets from Diglipur.
If we would have got down at Rangat, we would have got the Jetty tickets which would have saved our half-day, but what has to happen that has to happen and then we had to go to Diglipur to get these tickets.
Rangat is a middle point. The distance between Diglipur to Port Blair is 325 Kilometers. It is about 170 km from Port Blair. Our tonight's reservation was at Andaman Tourism's Hotel Hawabeil Nest which was 15 km from Rangat and this time the bus conductor took 25 INR in addition to the earlier 80 INR for each person. This fare was higher as it was an express. Here local buses run for Rangat to Mayabundar and Uttara Jetty on the other side and the fare is also less.
On our way to our hotel from Rangat, after coming out of Rangat, we can see the sea along with the road and magnificent scenes were visible. Many sites came that looked exquisite to see and although I read about one or two of them, but got determined to see the rest. After a lot of waits, we came to the hotel which would be fine to say was in the forest. The hotel was roadside but what was the purpose of making it 15 kilometers away from the town like Rangat, could not be understood.
At 5 pm we reached our hotel Hawabeil Nest. When the bus left us in front of the hotel, it shocked us to see that there was nothing except two houses and a tea shop. There was not even a seashore in front that the government here had seen a great location and built a hotel there.
The mistake we had made in Rangat was now troubling. We arrived at the hotel reception and here we found a lady and a man who took the hotel booking slip and gave the room, but when we talked about an extra mattress for the third man, they told his charge of 150 INR extra. When he asked for dinner, we gave him the order.
When we asked about Rangat's Jetty ticket, that person did not know. Even they did not know whether Jetty's office opens on Sunday. There was no longer any benefit in going to the office of Jetty for the ticket, but there was so much that we could get to know more about like the time of the ferry. When we asked at the reception, they told that a local bus is to come and you can go to Rangat on it. We kept our luggage in the room and hurried to the road. Our bus had ten minutes to arrive and within ten minutes the decision of the Jaat devta changed.
It was already evening, and it would get dark while returning from Rangat. I had read about another place of rich Dhani Nala was in Rangat. When we asked at a shop in front of us, he told me that the Dhani Nala is about one kilometer away from here. Our decision completely changed. Now, first, we have to go to see the Dhani Nala. We saw samosas at the shop where we were sitting. We started eating samosas. Meanwhile, the local bus arrived at the stated time. We were surprised to see the bus timing. We walked on foot after eating samosas. The photo session also continued on the way.
Excellent article and appreciable photographs
