There is a place named Wandoor, about 25 kilometers from Port Blair. In this place located in south Andaman, it has many sightseeing places. There is a place called Sippighat nearby where there is a government horticulture farm and there are many people who also come to see it. We also tried to get here and when we went to the gate, we found it closed. This farm was closed on that day.

We had taken a bus from Port Blair bus stand after getting off from Ferry to reach Sippighat. When Sippighat got closed, we took a bus to go to Wandoor. On the way to Wandoor, we saw the life here devastated by the tsunami. Actually, in Port Blair, the main city or jetty was called Aberdeen, there was a tsunami that did not cause much damage here because Rose island suffered the most damage and there was neither much population nor farming. But this southern area of Andaman, where there was fertile land for cultivation, there are very large ponds visible today because when the tsunami came here, its water wreaked havoc about 20 kilometers inside and destroyed good land. That water could not be extracted till date and the saline water filled in those big ponds had taken over the cultivated lands.

Wandoor is a small village which is also the route to visit Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. This small village has very large and long beaches. The way to reach here is very beautiful and a bus is available from the bus stand every 30 minutes.

Here the bus stops just in front of the beach. We first drank our favorite drink of Andaman i.e. coconut water and filled our stomach with eating its cream, after that we went to see the beach. Here are the memories of the tsunami on the beach. The big trees that were uprooted during the outbreak of the Tsunami are lying here like this and whether you believe it or not, they look very good here. It seems as if someone uses props during the dance and at the same time makes the people  feel the horrors of the tsunami here.

The day we arrived here was a holiday and local people more than tourists came here to celebrate their holiday. Most of them brought everything from the sound system to food etc. to celebrate their picnic. It was very crowded and women were also there who were using the forest near the beach to change clothes which had a lot of mangrove trees. The most special thing about this beach was that apart from the long coast, anyone could go beyond this.

Boats are also available from here to visit Red Skin Beach and Jolly Buoy Beach. Both of them open for six months. And when we went there, none of these two were open at that time. After spending a lot of time here, we went back by bus and reached Port Blair back by 5 pm.
